Just waiting on my Consent Order and Decree Absolute, just beginning to appreciate the little things...

1. My car keys are exactly where I left them.
2. Dinner CAN be a sandwich and a packet of crisps
3. The remote control is MINE!
4. 50% less cleaning, I look after my half, he looks after his (or not.)
5. Bickering and inane arguments reduced to 0.01%
6. No more 'have you seen my....' questions
7. Being in my own space, mentally and emotionally.
8. Easier planning - just me and my kids to worry about now!
9. No disappointments - Things may or may not get done. No expectations.
10. No more worrying about 'other women' - they can have him. Good luck.

Less stress, happier me!

The other pleasant surprise was the support I've got from my daughter!

Even a very bad situation has some good in it!

Great post! There are so many positives once you get past all the negatives. I guess it's hard to see them when you are feeling low! I left my ex six years ago and never looked back! Best thing I ever did. I'm not saying it's been easy, far from it! But the journey has shaped me into the strong resilient woman I am now. ;)

Love the positive attitude, it was only after Ex left that I realised how unhappy I'd been, I only became aware of the stress I'd been under once it was no longer there which is probably why I got over him remarkably quickly. A great positive for me was that it left me free to marry someone who treats me wonderfully well and makes me very happy and although the 'have you seen my' questions are back I can live with that.

Hi Bubblegum11 and Clawed. Thank you, both! I wanted to write something light because divorce can be such a negative thing, so it's easy to overlook the positives especially the small ones. But ultimately, we all do survive and some of us (if not all) eventually much better for it. Both of you are great examples!

I have to confess that it did take me a while to get there - I won't pretend otherwise - we separated quite abruptly but reconciled years until it became obvious he hadn't changed so luckily I'd done most of my grieving the first time around!

All the best x

Hi Sally...I know exactly what you mean, for me it is only been a week and already my diet has changed totally, no more sugar pumped crap, no more endless fecking coffee's with biscuits, kettle hasn't been on in a week, electricity company will be sending a man round to check whats going on. Man can survive on water like i did before i met her. Death by partner is a real thing. She wanted to take the cat, we said no, even he has risen to is by not crying constantly for the treats my wife endlessly provided for him that he didn't need, yes you are right, life is going to be by far a lot simpler, in that we can rebuild, a cleaner sleeker new person emerges from the chaos, thank you for your post it was fun reading it and so true..Love K
