Getting Divorced? Got Any Questions?

Getting Divorced? Got Any Questions?
Written by
Lynne Bastow

I bet you have and I bet I can guess at least 5 of them... What will happen to my children? What is Fair? What are my Legal Rights? How long will it take? What do I need to do next?

I have been asked these questions so many times I have lost count. Every divorce is unique but a lot of the situations that people are forced through are similar. Sites such as Wikivorce are a great source of support but I think there is a need for people to have access to legal and practical advice without going to the expense of instructing a Solicitor. This is why I came up with the idea of the Divorce Workshops.

The first of its kind, the Divorce Workshops will focus on supplying answers to questions such as: “Does my Husband having an affair mean that I will get more of our money?”, “What should I do first?”, “What is Mediation?” There are many choices available to you and I want to help you make the right decision for you at what is often an emotionally traumatic time.

The courses are deliberately limited in number, so that you will have the opportunity to ask specific questions. There will also be a number of breaks where you will be able to ask more searching personal questions if you wish. When you send in your booking form you can also send in any questions you have – or you can save them for the day itself –whatever feels right.

I have been a solicitor for nearly 10 years and I have been divorced twice. One divorce was very amicable and one was very acrimonious. I think this gives me a unique understanding of what people go through and how to help them. When I wrote the Divorce Workshops I realised that it was possible to give people lots of insights and advice in a structured situation which would save them both time and money. I became quite excited as I feel that the Divorce Workshops will be better than a day at a health farm for relieving stress and anxiety.

The Divorce Workshops are designed for those of you who wish to proceed with your own divorce or for those of you who are considering instructing a Solicitor.

The Divorce Workshops will take place at luxury hotels and the first one is to be held at The Runnymede Hotel in Egham on 24 July 2010. The cost will be £195.00 plus VAT (£229.13). This will include refreshments and a lovely buffet lunch in their restaurant where you can mix with others or relax on your own as you choose.
