Wikivorce Scotland - One Year on!

Wikivorce Scotland - One Year on!

When I first started looking for accessible, easy-to-understand information on Scottish Divorce Law, all I could find was information that was either out-of-date or written in “legalese”.

I joined Wikivorce in the hope of having the many questions I had being answered by someone who had also been through the Scottish divorce process - and thanks to one particular Wikivorce member, Fiona, those questions were answered. But still I felt that a site dedicated to Scottish family law, run by those who have been through the process would be beneficial.

I kept asking 'Mr. Wiki' (Ian Rispin) for a section of the site to be devoted to Scottish Family Law - I tried gentle cajoling, pleading, flattery and old-fashioned nagging. Well, the flattery didn’t work, but the nagging did, because on May 6th last year, Wikivorce Scotland was born. I did expect fireworks, a pipe-band, a lone pibroch perhaps, but while it was a day like any other, it marked a historical point for those going through divorce and separation here - finally an entire website and community forum devoted to Scottish Family Law, along with the unique support that Wikivorce offers.

My aim for Wiki-Scotland was simple - to have all the resources, information, advice that someone facing the breakdown of a serious relationship in Scotland would need at any given point during their journey. In short - the place to go for free help and advice for Scottish people.

At times, its been a bit like climbing Ben Nevis in stilettos - Im keen to make sure that those who are involved with us share the same passion as I do and help provide our members with the best possible and relevant information and advice that they can access - and I delighted to announce that Relationships Scotland are now a resource partner, and Im sure that their expertise and experience of differing types of mediation can only benefit our members.

And Im sure that our Scottish members have already seen the benefits of having a site solely for Scottish Family Law - from our easy-to-read step-by-step guide to the library packed full of useful resources and links to organisations, to the much-needed free advice and support gained on our forums.

Wiki-Scotland will always a be a “work-in-progress”, there will always be ways to improve the site, move it forward as we bring on board agencies in partnerships, improve the services we already offer, I think the coming year will be an even busier year for us, an exciting time ahead and more importantly, an ever-improving site for our members. Im always happy to hear feedback from members, you can contact me via the site or at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.
