What are we each entitled to in our divorce settlement?

What does the law say about how to split the house, how to share pensions and other assets, and how much maintenance is payable.

What steps can we take to reach a fair agreement?

The four basic steps to reaching an agreement on divorce finances are: disclosure, getting advice, negotiating and implementing a Consent Order.

What is a Consent Order and why do we need one?

A Consent Order is a legally binding document that finalises a divorcing couple's agreement on property, pensions and other assets.

Dear all,
I would really appreciate any information. We submitted a Consent Order and application for Decree Absolute on the 28 July (Bury St Edmunds). Decree Nisi was given in 2020. How long does it take to grant the DA and the CO? We have a Clean Break and I am giving my husband a lump sum. But he will lose his job imminently and may want to change terms.
thank you!!

My DA took a week for paper version. No idea for CO.

Got my DA in a day or two (electronic) and hardcopy a week later. Once the CO is signed I don't think you can re-open it unless you can prove someone lied. Not sure how they handle genuine change of circumstance like redundancy
