What are we each entitled to in our divorce settlement?

What does the law say about how to split the house, how to share pensions and other assets, and how much maintenance is payable.

What steps can we take to reach a fair agreement?

The four basic steps to reaching an agreement on divorce finances are: disclosure, getting advice, negotiating and implementing a Consent Order.

What is a Consent Order and why do we need one?

A Consent Order is a legally binding document that finalises a divorcing couple's agreement on property, pensions and other assets.

Hi, that seems rather delayed! The current timeframes (I checked today) as as above. So you should have had at least the notice of your Nisi date.

You can contact the court yourself, make sure you know your case number as you will need to give it tgo find out where your application is at. You can email - This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

thank you rubytuesday. I have had an update from the solicitor. They said that our application has been passed to a Legal Advisor on the 30th November and a decision is due on the 20th January 2022. If the Court accept the application and do not have any queries they will produce a document known as the Certificate of Entitlement which shall denote the date on which the Decree Nisi is due to be pronounced. They said that they would expect the Decree Nisi to be pronounced within 4-6 weeks following the Certificate of Entitlement.

I was not aware that there was an additional step (the certificate of entitlement) but maybe that is just my ignorance of the process. What is most surprising to me, is that they told me they sent the decree nisi application to the court on 21 July, and it has taken this long to even get to the stage of getting the certificate of entitlement.

I have asked the solicitor for the case number so I can find out information on the dates myself.

I made a payment for my deemed service application on 2nd November 2021. I haven't heard any updates from the court. Not sure why it is taking more than 60 days! :(

Hello again, I rang BSE court about my case, because my solicitor said they applied to the court for my decree nisi in July, and it was only looked at in December. The clerk at BSE said they had received the application for the decree nisi at the end of October. I asked my solicitor to explain this, they said that unfortunately the court doesn't log when they receive applications, they only log it when it is processed. Does this sound right? Do they really not log it when it arrives? And does it really take over 3 months for them even to get round to looking at it?

Hi, asking about BSE nisi processing times

1. My ex (applicant's) solicitor say they filed a decree nisi application on 07.07.2021. Didn't hear anything for months, and when I phoned the 0300 number, they said it was received only on 03.12.2021, i.e. 21 weeks later. How is that possible? Is there a very long lag between application and it being recorded on the system as received?

2. Also, if it was received on the system as of 03.12.2021, what is the timeline, and when can I expect a certificate of entitlement and the nisi?

Many thanks for your help.
