Here is a really useful article about starting to run.

www.runnersworld.co.uk/news/article.asp?UAN=24

I think running is great! You get outdoors (in all weathers). You can do it with the minimum of fuss - you only really need a decent pair of trainers to get started. You can do it when you can fit it in. No need to adhere to a gym timetable. No expenses gym fees. No having to share the showers with anyone else.

Runners are a fairly friendly bunch. Most other runners will give you a nod and even a "Morning".

Happy running!

Ditto. Running is absolutely fantastic. I go out for a run and feel great. I'm looking great because of all the excercise. Early days, if I ever felt stressed, I'd go out for a run and straighten out my head

I just ran the London Marathon, best time ever

Agree running is brilliant - combine with music and smile as you pound the streets. In the beginning I often had tears rolling down my face but now i hold my head up and smile. I also have the most fantastic garden - keeps me busy, out in the fresh air and what a sense of achievement when I look out at it. You just have to do what works for you. I still have a way to go but its not bad all the time now.:)

I used to go to the gym and do yoga but found running was much better in dealing with my depression.

HOW cheesy...

I used to run, but found of late it gives me too much thinking time and the tears come until I can't physically run any longer...

However that said I have now located my iPod and will try again to build up my running routine once the children have returned to school by blasting music into my negative thoughts...

I simply can't wait, I SO miss the good endorphines...

I'd never SO much as look at another gym or monthly membership fees as long as I live...

Its free, after the initial purchase of trainers and a track suit or shorts...

Plus the sence of freedom you get is awsome
