another update, the dog started her barking, growling last night, but this time i had no visitors, i was sat on the swivel pc chair, i turned my back on her, she walked round the chair to stand in front of me barking,i couldnt believe it ,turned my back again, she walks round again, this continued 5,6 times then she gave up and went to her bed, today mum came round, told her what we had to do, only had 2 lots of barking and growling, think were getting there slowly, or at least i hope so xx

2 weeks into retraining my dog, and shes like a new dog ! every visitor to the house had been told before hand what to do when she starts the growling , (turning of the backs etc) and its working ! on blip was when the ex turned up out of the blue, she started on me then, which has lead me to believe it is a pack leader thing. my brother came over last night and she used to get really bad when he turned up, but last night he couldnt believe the difference, not one bark or growl, she was very calm around him, even tried to get on his lap for a cuddle, not the best thing for a 5 1/2 stone dog to try. im really pleased with her progress so far and have started to enjoy having her with me again, our daily walks are getting longer and longer to. xxx

I am so pleased it has worked - just goes to show how the team of ''wiki friends'' can help in so many ways.

Good for you for perservering. Good news all round, for you, your family and friends and the dog.

Enjoy the walks - it''s brilliant therapy and will improve your bond with the dog.

My Goodness!

Pets are part of the family too and I think perhaps this most useful thread for pet owners/lovers shoul be given it''s own heading of "Pets" under "Discuss Anything".

In this way it could be more readily found by peeps undergoing similar problems in the future.

There seems to be no limit to the help that Wiki''s amazing members can provide!
