Mizmagoo,

Please don't be upset - Strictly speaking I get the feeling you are cooking for more than one, ;), and as the judge your chicken and rice type meal is too close to my normal type of cooking.

If I get a steamer and like it, you never know you may also get a GF star - as a bloke I do love a gadget but I think it would just be an extra piece of kit to find a cupboard for!

And what's with frozen rice? Even I can manage the type that comes in a packet and needs boiling (though my rice cooker gadget, a bargain from Argos, does mean I don't have to clean my hob from the water that ALWAYS boils over when doing rice!).

Cheers,

GF

Woolworths do a microwave steamer and it is FANTASTIC
£5.oo. it is better than the electric steamer I bought a few months ago.

It does it all in the microwave, quick,,, no washing up..
marvellous.

Try one you will be hooked. Does rice too.

This "recipie" sustained me for several months -

ingredients - 1 frozen shepherd's pie (any make)

Method - Remove cardboard packaging, and plastic covering.
Put in hot oven for about 40 mins, remove without buring your hands in the slop that invariably escapes from the little plastic container, scoop out onto plate and eat - no need for chewing, just swallow.......................................

Ruby,

Come on now, we're looking for Masterchef tips here, not an Iceland advert! I must confess to doing the odd microwave meal when I'm on my own, but do try to avoid it. Never had a shop bought shepherds pie, not sure I feel inspired to give it a go.

OK, so me and the boys tonight. Got pork, fish cakes or mince. Bought some salad yesterday when it was sunny, and it is now POURING down . I had to wring my suit out when I got in. So, fish cakes, wedges & salad? Not sure the boys have even had fishcakes before so I may not be popular tonight!

Ruby,

Sorry my response has come across wrong , your frozen shepherds pie did make me laugh, and perhaps would have been more appropriate to this weather than the salad I served!

That said the fishcakes were eaten without a moan - though seeing as I cooked for three tonight I shouldnt really be commenting in my own topic!!
