Green pesto stirred into pasta! yes I love it and so easy.

Tuna pasta is also a quick one, nice with egg salad.

If you have an ikea near you buy the swedish meatballs.

Knock up a basic tomato sauce like you would for spag bol and add the meatballs its easy and tastes good with pasta alternatively have with gravy (granules) and mash/veg.

Try a portion of salmon loosely wrap in foil with a little butter or olive oil and bake (cooks quick)very good with new potatoes and veg.

Or a chicken fillet with a layer of bacon, paste on barbecue sauce and top with cheese and grill - yummy! not sure how healthy it is mind.

feel hungry now!

when you buy chops, salmon steaks, chicken breasts etc...open the pack and wrap them up individually, that way you can take just one out of the freezer without having to thaw out the lot.

Sliced bread...leave it in the freezer and just take out a few slices at a time.

Good cheats way of salmon steak with hollandaise sauce:-

Take out one salmon steak...wrap in tinfoil with a slice of lemon, little white wine and seasoning

Bake in oven gas 6 for about 15 mins maybe less...dont really do timings lol

serve with new pots or chips and peas and heat a jar of hollandaise sauce up if you dont feel like making it yourself......pour over the salmon...delicious!!!

If you want my quick and easy recipe for hollandaise let me know

Hi Goofyfoot. Cooking for one is easy and cheap. But cookbooks are usualy for 4 or 6. You just have to divide it down. Mince is the staple food for single people. 250g packs are what you need and tesco and morisons sell it this way. You can do a hell of a lot with mince. Spag bol comes to mind. In the old days before I could realy cook I would buy 250g of mince, a dolmio microwave suace (for 1) and an onion, a few mushrooms and of course some pasta.

Brown the mince add chopped onions and sliced mushrooms. Microwave the sauce and add to the mix. At the same time boil the pasta and when ready drain, put the pasta back in the pan add butter and some tomato paste and whisk. Serve the pasta and add the mince mixture from the pan. Add grated cheese. Consume and watch corrie lol.

I never cook a meal that cant be done in 30 mins. That meal can be cooked from start to finish in 15 mins.

Shepards pie is another easy one and you can make a big one and freeze what you dont eat. A few vedge done in the microwave and you are done. Easy peasy.

Look for recipes that have mince in them.

Another one I used to cook was mince and mash. Thats like spag bol but you dont need the suace. Just an oxo cube. In fact lots of things are based on spag bol. Meatballs and pasta is the same but you roll the mince into balls.

I dont buy the sauces now. I make my own. I also perfected a good bechamol sauce for my own version of lasagna. I make white sauces for chicken and fish. There are loads of good recipes in the biggest cook book in the world. The internet.

Cooking is easy. But sometimes I work late and I cant be arsed to cook and a can of soup is just the thing. A couple of slices of thick bread and some creame fraich is just the thing.

You can always spot the singletons by the way they shop. Look for the small packs of mince and tesco sell a lot of small portions. Great place to find a date. And the perfect line is. Bring it round and I will cook it for you. Works every time lol.

Hope it helps. C

Hi Saffy. I do almost the same dish but I dont use an oven. I bought a £10 steamer from tesco (yes blue and white stripe) it has 3 teirs and I put the fish in the bottom and vedge in the next level. I make my own holendaise now but sainsburys do a realy nice sauce.

Asda do a cook in the bag (sealed with butter of yr choice) but is expensive. I buy fish at a local fishmonger now. Its fresher and tastes nicer. Go to the places that the local head chefs goto. They do it for a reason. But supermarket stuff is ok if more pricey. C
