What are we each entitled to in our divorce settlement?

What does the law say about how to split the house, how to share pensions and other assets, and how much maintenance is payable.

What steps can we take to reach a fair agreement?

The four basic steps to reaching an agreement on divorce finances are: disclosure, getting advice, negotiating and implementing a Consent Order.

What is a Consent Order and why do we need one?

A Consent Order is a legally binding document that finalises a divorcing couple's agreement on property, pensions and other assets.

Thanks Rubytuesday. I have shortened the letter and offered £500. Worth trying I think.

Not that the following statements - but just to fill you in - if you been in my position I am sure a lot of people would be more than just aggressive.

The Petition was full of lies - falsely accused of Domestic violence saying I hit her - I don''t even know what they used to convince the judge.

I have been locked out of my own house (jointly owned) and threatened with injuction if I didn''t comply. This happened 6 months ago.

Locks have been changed and they didn''t give copy of keys and refused to give copy of keys to the jointly owned property.

6 months of no communication. and won''t be any communication at all with the finance matter in progress. Bills are expected to go rocket high with my solicitors.

They made a unreasonable offer for the jointly owned property. 1/3 of what I put in - not even taken into account of the equity.

I recently learnt that she is helping a friend to run her counselling business from our jointly owned property. Where as I am living a bed share in a damped room with no living room and proper heating.

Ofourse on top of all this the relatioship breakdown which affected me greatly and still not stopped crying.

Endless counselling and group therapy and none helped. To top it I have to pick up the divorce bill.

Rant over.
