There is equity and there is debt. There is an argument to be had over who gets equity and who gets saddled with the debt.

It might be that using equity to clear debt and look into Individual Voluntary Arrangements (IVA) might be worth investigating.

It's certainly not worth throwing money at legal fees as this exacerbates the current situation.
