I changed to calling myself Ms STBXSurname immediately after separation.

When we still hadn''t divorced after three years (long story), I wanted to drop his name and so changed by Deed Poll to Ms NewPartnerSurname. It probably did hurt my Ex, but it also focussed him on finally progressing issues.

I have a young son with my new partner so it''s easier for us all to have the same surname; and I generally get called Mrs NewPartnerSurname now as people presume we are married.

(Which we won''t until this government decide whether to give us a tax break or not!)
