What are we each entitled to in our divorce settlement?

What does the law say about how to split the house, how to share pensions and other assets, and how much maintenance is payable.

What steps can we take to reach a fair agreement?

The four basic steps to reaching an agreement on divorce finances are: disclosure, getting advice, negotiating and implementing a Consent Order.

What is a Consent Order and why do we need one?

A Consent Order is a legally binding document that finalises a divorcing couple's agreement on property, pensions and other assets.

stbx has had a solictor sent a letter saying that she will lodge a defence given the UB allegations, of felling negilented etc.
1. is there a time frame in which i have to response
2. what do they mean by looking for my views?

She has 28 days to provide court with an "answer" of defence.

Chances are what they are really looking for is that you agree to amend those reasons, though it does sound quite inoffensive so not sure why.

Be careful with your words, the reasons you gave in s6 of the application are not "grounds".

It best just to ask what do you find offensive and how can we resolve this, you don''t want court, and your stbx is just wasting money really, you want a divorce, you want it without costing the earth, if that means playing nice then why not.

I''m a little suprised your solicitor hasn''t already suggested this, but yes it''s best that the solicitor handles this.

ex says i leave no alternative as i have run out on her just now when she is struggling with bad knees etc .... can a divorce be stopped if one side is poorly and expects to be looked after?
i still pay all the house bills even her car maintenance which is now angering me ... she spents her money on sols .... and i pay her car repairs.
do i say i want the money to pay another sols...?
