What are we each entitled to in our divorce settlement?

What does the law say about how to split the house, how to share pensions and other assets, and how much maintenance is payable.

What steps can we take to reach a fair agreement?

The four basic steps to reaching an agreement on divorce finances are: disclosure, getting advice, negotiating and implementing a Consent Order.

What is a Consent Order and why do we need one?

A Consent Order is a legally binding document that finalises a divorcing couple's agreement on property, pensions and other assets.

I need to post my form E to the court. It''s about 80 pages (and as such, probably a short one!)

Do I just stuff it in an envelope with a covering letter, or does it need to be bound in any way, or put in any sort of file?

It should be tethered in some way. A big staple in the top left or a treasury tag going through the whole lot.

If you double hole punch it and put an elastic treasury tag or a twinlock fastener that would be the most effective solution.
