What are we each entitled to in our divorce settlement?

What does the law say about how to split the house, how to share pensions and other assets, and how much maintenance is payable.

What steps can we take to reach a fair agreement?

The four basic steps to reaching an agreement on divorce finances are: disclosure, getting advice, negotiating and implementing a Consent Order.

What is a Consent Order and why do we need one?

A Consent Order is a legally binding document that finalises a divorcing couple's agreement on property, pensions and other assets.

Just an update from final hearing this week, well no outcome, last year he approached me and we arrived at an open agreement that was agreeable to us both, his sol confirmed our agreement but marked the agreement "withiut prejudice" but I have an open offer prior to his sols letter. On advise from his sol he then withdrew his open offer prior to first hearing, as I was LIP I did not pursue it, now my barrister is saying this was an agreement, and should stand, he now chooses not to negotiate, we tried to negotiate less but still he says no, why ???? So now we have to go back to court for 2 days to iron out this agrrement and then to final hearing, this will cost thousands, the judge advises we should try to negotiate, I have offered him more but he still refuses, I do think what the hell have I done to him thst he won''t even consider ? My answer, nothing , he is a greedy git, perhaps new gf is pulling his strings. I suppose we have come this far, n i am gonna see it out, his new offer is 70/30 no spousal maint, but our agreement was £850 spousal maint for 6 years and me paying him £10k when I sell the house, we made an agreement and he now does not want to honour this. Nightmare, thought it was gonna be all over n move on.
