What are we each entitled to in our divorce settlement?

What does the law say about how to split the house, how to share pensions and other assets, and how much maintenance is payable.

What steps can we take to reach a fair agreement?

The four basic steps to reaching an agreement on divorce finances are: disclosure, getting advice, negotiating and implementing a Consent Order.

What is a Consent Order and why do we need one?

A Consent Order is a legally binding document that finalises a divorcing couple's agreement on property, pensions and other assets.

My ex has failed to make the maintenance payment for a few months so have asked the DJ to intervene. My ex is now in court for the enforcement in 2 weeks.

I''ve been a litigant in person to Final Hearing last year, but the Affidavit is confusing me.

Been asked to complete one and send it to the family courts before my ex is next in court, but the form asks me to sign and have it witnessed by someone.

Who can I ask to sign it? There is no guidance supplied with the form from the court or anything.

Thank you, I telephoned the court and they explained they could do it for free.

So have done it, stamped and just waiting to hear the outcome of the enforcement tomorrow, so good I don''t have to attend, but will be waiting for the courts to write with the outcome.
