What are we each entitled to in our divorce settlement?

What does the law say about how to split the house, how to share pensions and other assets, and how much maintenance is payable.

What steps can we take to reach a fair agreement?

The four basic steps to reaching an agreement on divorce finances are: disclosure, getting advice, negotiating and implementing a Consent Order.

What is a Consent Order and why do we need one?

A Consent Order is a legally binding document that finalises a divorcing couple's agreement on property, pensions and other assets.

Thanks to the guys that replied to my question with your help I have managed to sit down and re-evaluate the situation, I have written a letter to the soon be ex husband outlining the arrangements for access to our daughter and stating that I shall pay half the costs he has quoted to me but no more than that amount. I also made it clear that all further CSA payments are to be made via a standing order and not a direct cheque from him which has been the case over the last six years hence the opportunity for him to deduct the monies. Such is life...at the end of the day I want rid of him, this has been a bit of a wake up call to be honest and made me recall why the split came about in the first place and how he walked out off the marital along with the fridge and tumble drier and dining table leaving a six month old baby behind...mainly due to the fact that he didnt like paying for things...so on a lighter note think i may hold a Decree Nisi party!! then a Decree Absolut ( as in the vodka) one haha...let you know the date you can join us if you're free ( that being the opporative word)...thx again will keep you updated as to what goes on...Dolly x:) :)
